Something More Than a Business
For years, I poured myself into work and responsibility — always busy, always behind, always trying to hold everything together. My family got penciled in. My rest got postponed. And somewhere in the middle of all the doing, I lost the quiet parts of myself I hadn’t even noticed were gone.
I started making candles as a way to come up for air. It was an outlet for the creativity that my corporate career had slowly edged out — equal parts science, art, and something that felt genuinely mine. And over time, I noticed a pattern forming without me planning it: ambient music, a candle lit, my Bible open. I had built myself a small sanctuary in the middle of the overwhelm, and it was changing me.
What started as a coping rhythm became something sacred. I began incorporating it into my morning worship, my work hours, and the quiet spaces in between. The combination of intentional atmosphere, aroma, and time with God didn’t just reduce my stress — it restored something in me I didn’t know I’d been missing.
I wanted to share that.
But Abide & Comfort was always meant to be more than a candle business. In my other ventures, I carried my faith quietly — present in my values, but never woven into the work itself. This time, something was different. During one of my morning worship sessions, the Holy Spirit prompted a question I couldn’t shake: Why don’t you include Me? Why not make this a ministry?
I didn’t have a plan. I just had faith. And as Psalm 119:105 reminds us, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” I trusted that God would illuminate each step as I took it — and He has.
Every candle in this collection is made with care and intention. The scents are drawn from biblical imagery — from deep waters to green pastures and safe havens. Each one comes with a Scripture-Inspired card designed to encourage you further along your journey with Christ. Because these aren’t just candles. They’re an invitation — to slow down, to breathe, to remember that peace is available to you right now, in the middle of whatever season you’re in.
